High schools and economic development

Morton Marcus has something of a reputationin Indiana. Long the head of the Indiana Business Research Center at IU’s Kelley School of Business, Marcus has developed a reputation for speaking his mind bluntly.

So, it's worthwhile to listen when Marcus speaks. Recently in Terre Haute he came up with a memorable line: The best way to promote economic development in Terre Haute is to make area high schools “rank among the very best in the state.”
