Economic gardening is a strategy of economic development that argues communities should "grow their own" by providing an information rich environment for small, growth-oriented companies.

Developed by Chris Gibbons in Littleton, CO, economic gardening has become a leading alternative economic development strategy to traditional recruitment. Economic gardening encourages us to think about growth, entrepreneurship, and innovation...not simply business costs and incentives.
