Technology transfer is a tough topic for most economic developers. The issue is complex and outside the range of most professionals in the field.
Recently, a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives held a review of the key statute in the field, the Bayh-Dole Act. Here's a good article that provides you some historical background on the issues. Read more.

Some Background on EDPro Weblog
The purpose of this weblog is to help economic development professionals -- EDPros -- keep up with the changes sweeping our profession. Strap on your goggles. It's a whole new game. One other point: the prevaling approach (paradigm, if you like) in economic development is shifting from competition to collaboration.
