Auckland uses the America's Cup to promote ED

Auckland is conducting an investment promotion program around the America's Cup. It provides a good case study of how EDPros use event marketing (tourism) to build a stronger regional brand. New Zealand is aggressively moving ahead with an innovation-led economic development strategy.

The City of Auckland is following the national government to promote New Zealand as a center fo innovation. Auckland has created the brand of Innovation Harbour to anchor their investment attraction efforts around the America's Cup 2002/2003. The program includes publishing a "fact book" that clearly outlines the value proposition for Auckland.
