Iowa universities frame themselves as catalysts for economic development

Over the past two years, the Iowa Legislature has cut the post secondary education budget by $125 million. Now the Iowa Board of Regents is trying to "connect the dots" for state legislators who just don't get it.

In a report issued yesterday, the Board of Regents is trying to explain the impact the state's three public universities have on Iowa's economy. This report provides the type of education that state legislators need. It not only outlines the direct employment impact, but also highlights the impact of research and new business development.
