Early child care is moving to the center of the economic debate on two fronts. First, advocates are making the point that the child care industry is, indeed, quite large and important. Second, economists are making the argument that investments in early child care are good economic development investments. One other point: the prevaling approach (paradigm, if you like) in economic development is shifting from competition to collaboration.
