Next energy strategies as economic development Sunday, November 13, 2005 In a speech before the Nevada Development Authority, former President Bill Clinton highlighted the importance of renewable energy development as part of an economic development strategy. "If I were the economic development czar for American today or if I were in charge of economic planning for Las Vegas and Nevada today, I would start by making a complete and total commitment to a clean energy future, because I think you can create more jobs there than anywhere else." Clinton believes that new energy strategies can lower business costs and at the same time generate environmental benefits. The engineering and manufacturing required to develop and produce new energy solutions would also become an engine for the economy.
