State of the North Carolina workforce

North Carolina has released a report on the state of its workforce, and the report sounds some of the trends that appear in other regions of the country, as well.

The state is losing "middle jobs" relatively high paid, relatively low skiled jobs vulnerable to outsourcing.

New higher paying jobs are concentrated n the metro areas.

Higher paying jobs require skills earned past high school.

The retirement of the baby boom generation will be creating a skills gap.
