In a promising development in west central Indiana, a new innovation alliance is forming with Indiana State University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation at the center of the partnership. Read more.
Three companies are already engaged in the Alliance and are receiving support. One of the major benefits for a start-up company will be access to low cost and talented students from ISU and Rose Hulman.
A task force comprised of leaders from each of the Innovation Alliance partners selected the nitial companies. Selection criteria include the company’s alignment with state and local economic development initiatives, ability to meet strategic educational initiatives, and opportunity for successful commercialization. The Alliance expects to have up to five companies engaged with the Alliance at any given time.

Some Background on EDPro Weblog
The purpose of this weblog is to help economic development professionals -- EDPros -- keep up with the changes sweeping our profession. Strap on your goggles. It's a whole new game. There are no experts any more. The only place to learn about economic development is from other EDPros who are doing it.
One other point: the prevaling approach (paradigm, if you like) in economic development is shifting from competition to collaboration. There are a lot of reaasons underlying this shift, but here's the important insight: You, your community, and your region will do better by collaborating and sharing information.
