The City of Los Angeles has entered into a innovative partnership ld by the Bank of America and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College to establish the Regional Economic Development Institute.
The Institute will provide both advanced technical and basic skills training to unemployed and underemployed residents in Los Angeles to improve their job placement
It will focus on training in emerging technology fields such as solar installation and water recycling and reclamation.

One other point: the prevaling approach (paradigm, if you like) in economic development is shifting from competition to collaboration. There are a lot of reaasons underlying this shift, but here's the important insight: You, your community, and your region will do better by collaborating and sharing information.
