The cost of drop-outs is starting to get attention across the country. For years, state officials were in denial about the drop-out issue. Phoney state statistics understated the problem.

Now we know that dropping out of high school creates an enormous drag on a regional economy. Here are two articles: one from Georgia; an editorial from Alabama; another story from Mississippi and one from Vermont.
