A new arts incubator is getting off the ground in Southeast Michigan. Read more.
A lot of civic leaders are still having difficulty wrapping their heaads around the idea that creativity and the arts play a central role inthe emerging network-based economy.
Foundations dominate Ingenuity. Corporations, economic development organizations and universities dominate Idea Festival. (Indeed, not one economic development organization is listed in Ingenuity.)
To learn more about the connection of the arts, creativity and innovation, here's a magazine to download. The Council on Higher Education in New England published a good series of articles that connect creativity to economic development. You can download it here.

Some Background on EDPro Weblog
The purpose of this weblog is to help economic development professionals -- EDPros -- keep up with the changes sweeping our profession. Strap on your goggles. It's a whole new game. There are no experts any more. The only place to learn about economic development is from other EDPros who are doing it.
One other point: the prevaling approach (paradigm, if you like) in economic development is shifting from competition to collaboration. There are a lot of reaasons underlying this shift, but here's the important insight: You, your community, and your region will do better by collaborating and sharing information.
