Oklahoma's workforce report card

Monday, August 13, 2007

Oklahoma has released a report card on workforce that compares Oklahoma with surrounding states. It's a good exaqmple of using a report card format to keep people focused on the essentials. Read more.

You can download a copy of the report card here. The format is good, but I would also like to see some additional indicators on reading and math performance.

The report card includes one of the major challenges we all face: the remarkably high high school drop out rate. Nationwide, about 30% of 9th graders do not complete high school. For too long, opaque educational statistics on dropout rates obscured this reality.
